I stopped my 200GB iCloud subscription in 2024, and my Mac was set to sync my Desktop and Documents. When my iCloud storage was full, instead of stopping the sync, it deleted local copies of my files from my Mac. I also lost files I created after 2024 that were never uploaded to iCloud. Apple support said my only option is to resubscribe and hope the files return, which doesn't make sense since those files were never in iCloud. I'm in the UK and considering action under the Consumer Rights Act. Has anyone successfully dealt with this? Did escalating to Executive Relations help? Has anyone taken formal action against Apple for lost data?
