I'm having trouble with a user's Outlook Classic—it doesn't seem to send or receive messages properly. When I restart the app, new emails finally show up, but it seems like the core issue remains. I've checked and confirmed that everything works fine on both Outlook Web and the new version. I noticed a lot of folks on Down Detector have been reporting similar problems for almost a week now. Has anyone else been experiencing this?
I've already tried a few troubleshooting steps:
- Rebuilding the Outlook profile
- Disabling any add-ins
- Clearing the Outlook cache
- Verifying that the send/receive settings are correct

I’m facing the same issue! I can’t see any emails in the inbox, but I can search for them, and they show up after a restart. It’s strange since this mailbox is only 10 GB. Everything looks fine in the web version. Looks like Microsoft has some quality control problems.
Creating a new Outlook profile is usually the best first step. Often, these issues are because of some corruption in the PST/OST files. Make sure to check if there are any PST files connected, and if there are, dismount them. Also, run ScanPST on the OST file. If your OST file is bigger than 50 GB and you're a delegate for anyone else, that might also complicate things. It could be worth checking the mailbox folder statistics for any outliers.
Isn't Outlook Classic considered deprecated? Like, shouldn’t we all be using the newer version by now?
Could the size of the user's OST file be an issue? If it's nearing 50 GB, that's definitely a problem. You might want to adjust the caching settings to avoid caching shared mailboxes or just reduce the total caching amount. That could help a lot.
You could also try switching to the new version of Outlook if you're up for it. There's a toggle switch within the program that lets you switch between the two.
Have you tried reinstalling the application? Switching between cached mode and online mode could also help, so it's worth a shot.
