Hey everyone! I've been facing a weird problem lately where any media I watch—like YouTube, Twitch, or even when I'm streaming to friends on Discord—gets super choppy and laggy, but only on my main monitor. It works perfectly fine if I switch to a different monitor. My main monitor is connected via DisplayPort and set at 3840 x 2160 resolution. I've already tried different DisplayPort cables and made sure all my drivers are up to date, but I still can't figure out what's wrong.
Here's a bit about my setup:
- Ryzen 7 5800x
- Nvidia 3080 FE
- 32GB Corsair DDR4 RAM
Interestingly, my games run smoothly (CS2, Elden Ring, STS2), although I did notice some FPS drops in CS the other night. After closing everything except the game, my FPS went back to around 80, which still feels low for my rig. But the strange part was that after opening espn.com, my FPS dropped to 35! This is unusual since I usually manage to game and watch stuff simultaneously without issues. It's been frustrating, and I would really appreciate any advice you have. Thanks!

First things first, you should definitely check the refresh rate settings in the NVIDIA control panel. Sometimes it gets set lower than expected. Also, if you have G-Sync enabled, try turning it off to see if that helps. Also, consider checking if your monitor has an overdrive setting—it can sometimes cause issues with choppy playback.

Thanks for the tips! I checked the refresh rate, and it’s matching. I also turned off G-Sync. As for overdrive, I was wondering if it's the same as overclocking? I had my monitor overclocked to 160hz, but turning it off didn’t resolve the issue.
