Which CPU Should I Choose for Gaming and Editing?

I'm building a new PC primarily for gaming and heavy editing in Adobe software like Premiere Pro and After Effects. I need a CPU with good core counts to handle multithreaded tasks effectively. Recently, I upgraded to a 4070 Ti from my old 1660 Super, but I'm experiencing a significant bottleneck with my current Intel i5-9400F. I'm considering upgrading my RAM as well, currently at 16GB DDR4 2133MHz, to either 32GB DDR4 or possibly 16GB DDR5, depending on prices. I'm torn between going for a 13th or 14th gen Intel CPU and securing 32GB of DDR4, or choosing one of the new 2500K/2700K models, which show impressive benchmarks. I'm not keen on AM5 since Intel's latest offerings seem better for my specific needs, and they also come at a lower cost.

Since you'll be upgrading your RAM too, I say definitely go for the 2700K. Consider getting a motherboard with four RAM slots so you can upgrade to a quad-channel setup later on with 2x16GB sticks.

Where are you located? If you're in the US, you might want to check Micro Center for some decent deals. Also, what's your budget and the rest of your current setup? Just curious!

I'm based in the UK. Honestly, what else matters? I'll be replacing my motherboard, CPU, and RAM, like I mentioned my GPU. My PSU is an RM750x, if that helps.

Well, I just wanted to get a sense of your setup. No hard budget? That’s good to hear! It's wise to save up for a good CPU, but you don't need to go overboard for something like the 9800X3D. Good specs without breaking the bank is the way to go!
