What Are Some Good Alternatives to Google Analytics?

I haven't used Google Analytics in over a decade, but I did enjoy it back then. Now that I've launched a new mini-site and tried to set it up again, I find it overly complicated. It seems like they're primarily catering to larger businesses these days. What I'm looking for is a simpler tool that provides clear statistics in an easy-to-use dashboard—something where I can quickly see visitor numbers for different time periods. Are there any free alternatives that fit the bill?

Have you looked into Matomo? You can self-host it for free, or pay for their cloud version. Just a heads up, it might be a bit pricier depending on the number of features you want.

If you're looking for something lightweight, check out GoatCounter. It doesn’t require any tracking consent banners, which is a plus, especially if you're hosting on Vercel.

You might want to check out Umami. It's self-hosted and open source, and the dashboard is straightforward without a lot of clutter. It takes about 10 minutes to set up on platforms like Vercel or Railway.

Have you considered Microsoft Clarity? It provides page views, click tracking, and heat maps, which can be super helpful. It's simple to set up and could give you a good visual understanding of user behavior.

Plausible is another solid option. It's not free, but it’s priced reasonably at $9/month for up to 10,000 pageviews. I appreciate that it has a public analytics feature, so you can share your stats easily.
