I'm considering switching from my current 4070 Ti to a 9070 XT. I can sell my 4070 Ti for about €550, and the 9070 XT costs around €700. The main reasons for the upgrade are that I'm finding the 12GB VRAM insufficient for the games I play at 1440p, and I've heard that AMD's drivers tend to work better with Linux. However, I'm also aware that I might be giving up some features like upscaling. Should I go for this upgrade now, or would it be better to wait for new graphics cards coming out next year?

I did the upgrade about a month ago, and it's been great—especially on Wayland. I'm very pleased with my choice.
I recently switched to a 9070 XT from a 5800X3D, and it was definitely worth it. No more texture issues like I had with the 4070 Ti. The extra VRAM helps a lot, and even without the CPU upgrade, I would still recommend the 9070 XT. It's been solid for me!
If you’re using Linux, the AMD experience is significantly better than Nvidia's. Definitely worth considering the switch!
Nah, stick with what you have for now.
I'd say no way, don't do it. But wait—if you're on Linux? That makes it a tougher call.
Honestly, with your focus on Linux, I think making the swap is a good idea. The AMD drivers are definitely better for Linux, and it could enhance your gaming experience.
If you're thinking of upgrading to a 4070 Ti Super, then go for it. Otherwise, I'd hold off on the swap.
What games are maxing out your VRAM? I also have a 4070 Ti and play at 1440p, and I haven't felt the need to upgrade yet. Unless you're into DX12 games, I've been happy with my setup on Linux as well. I'm planning to wait until at least the 6000 series comes out to consider an upgrade.
Same here, I just don't see the value in that switch right now.
If I were you, I would just lower the texture quality or adjust the DLSS settings in your games. That could be a good way to extend the life of your current setup while you wait for new generations to launch.
Exactly! That's my plan—just hold out and see what the new cards offer.

Yeah, VRAM can be a concern, especially for ray tracing games. Linux is decent, but HDR support is still lacking because of driver issues.
