I recently stumbled upon an old Vizio smart TV while cleaning out a storage room. Unfortunately, it has some Gorilla tape stuck to it. The TV works fine and I want to give it to a friend, but I need to remove the tape and any sticky residue. Is it safe to use products like Goo Gone or isopropyl alcohol for this purpose? What methods would you recommend to avoid damaging the TV?

Goo Gone can work, but be careful as it might damage some plastic surfaces. If you're worried about that, WD40 is a solid option for removing residue too. Just spray it lightly and wipe it away!
Hey, eucalyptus oil works wonders as a natural adhesive remover! Just apply a little on a cloth and gently rub it on the sticky areas. It's worth trying if you're looking for a less harsh chemical!
For a safe bet, lay the TV flat, spray the tape with Goo Gone, and let it soak for about an hour. If you want, you could just pass the task to your friend if they're up for it!
I'd suggest trying isopropyl alcohol first; it's usually safe for electronics and should work well on the adhesive without harming the TV. Just make sure to test it on a small, hidden area first to be sure!
I’d also start with 70% isopropyl alcohol; it’s effective and generally safe for electronics. Again, testing a small area first is key!

I agree, just remember to clean any leftover WD40 off with soap and water afterward to avoid any weird smells!
