Hey everyone, I'm having an odd problem with my laptop's microphone. It seems to pick up audio initially when I use apps like Discord or Zoom, but then it stops working and I get a "microphone not detected" error. The input level shows as active even when I'm not speaking, and during the Windows microphone test, I only get a buzzing sound for a few seconds before it cuts out completely. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Intel drivers through Windows Update, but that didn't do anything. I can use a headset mic, but it sounds terrible, which is distracting during calls. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

It sounds like a frustrating issue! Since you mentioned that the internal mic shows activity even when you're not using it, it could be a hardware problem. If you haven't already, you might want to check your BIOS settings and make sure everything related to the microphone is enabled. Also, if it's an internal mic, it might be worth looking into driver updates or hardware diagnostics. Good luck!
I recommend checking your audio settings to see if you have any audio enhancements enabled. Sometimes those can mess with the mic. Turn them off, and see if that improves the quality of your headset mic too! Also, if the issue persists, consider using an external USB microphone, which might solve the problem altogether!
