Hey everyone! I'm currently using an i3-3220 and I'm thinking about upgrading to either an i5-3470 or an i7-3770, but I'm stuck on which one to choose. I'm interested in using the new CPU for making YouTube videos, and I want to know if there's a significant difference in performance between the two. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Both the i5-3470 and i7-3770 are pretty old by today’s standards, and you might find them lacking for video encoding tasks. However, if you have to choose, go with the i7-3770 due to its hyper-threading capability, which makes it notably faster. Just keep in mind that neither will perform efficiently with modern video codecs like VP9 or AV1, especially in video editing. If you're spending a decent amount, consider checking out a more recent system instead—there are options out there that would perform much better for video work and may not cost much more.

Honestly, investing in either is a bit risky since both are quite outdated. You could run into a lot of performance issues while editing videos. If you're tight on cash, I totally get it, but if possible, saving up for a newer setup would be better long-term since those CPUs are just not capable of handling today's demands for video content.

I agree; I don’t have the cash for a new build right now either, but it's frustrating knowing these old ones will struggle.
