I'm building my first PC and I'm trying to figure out how much wattage I need for my power supply unit (PSU). I'm considering a 1000W PSU, specifically the CORSAIR RM1000e, which is fully modular and has great efficiency ratings. My build includes an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, a GeForce RTX 5080, and several expansion fans and coolers. The estimated wattage for my current setup is about 676W, so what wattage should I aim for in a PSU to ensure everything runs smoothly?

850W should be enough for your current components, but if you think you might upgrade to something like a 5090 later, go with the 1,000W to be safe!
For your build, I would definitely recommend going with a 1,000W PSU. It gives you that extra headroom, especially if you plan to upgrade in the future.
A quality 850W PSU would work well. The 1,000W does give some extra cushion, but I've heard that the RM1000e can be a bit noisy. You might want to consider something ranked higher on SPL's list, like the Montech Century II 1050W, which is often recommended and tends to be more affordable.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check out that list.
