Hey folks! I'm totally new to Linux and I'm seriously considering making the switch. I'm currently using Windows 10, but since support is coming to an end soon, I'm torn between upgrading to Windows 11 or diving into the Linux world. I have a few concerns I'd like your thoughts on:
1. **Security**: I don't want to be stuck on an unsupported operating system.
2. **Privacy**: I'm uncomfortable with the AI features in Windows 11, like Copilot and Recall. Recall seems invasive since it can snapshot your activity.
3. **Gaming**: I play a lot of games like League of Legends, Genshin Impact, and various titles on Steam. I've heard Linux gaming is better now with Proton, but some games with anti-cheat might still be problematic.
4. **Learning Curve**: As a complete beginner, I'm worried about how hard Linux is to learn, the chances of breaking something, and whether it's a solid choice for daily use.
So I'm asking:
- Is Linux a good option for beginners like me?
- Can I play most of my games on Linux?
- Should I consider dual-booting first?
- Any beginner-friendly distributions you recommend?
Thanks a ton for your advice!
