Why Are My Games So Laggy Despite Having Adequate Specs?

I'm dealing with some frustrating lag in my games, and I don't think it's an issue with my wifi. I've done a bit of troubleshooting to avoid upgrading my RAM in this tough economy. I checked my task manager and my apps, and while my RAM is only a few years old, the memory usage shoots up to 85% or 91% as soon as I launch a game, even though it's only at 41% with basic apps running. I've even transferred all my Steam games to a second hard drive except for Marvel Rivals. Does anyone have suggestions on how to improve this situation? Here are my specs: 2.73 TB storage, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card, 16 GB RAM, and an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core processor.

We're missing some key specs here. Can you clarify what your graphics card memory is? Based on the specs you provided: 2.73 TB storage, 16 GB RAM, and an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X. Make sure everything's optimized!

The hard drive you store your games on shouldn't affect how much RAM you use, dude. There's a lot to consider here, but if your RAM consumption is so high with just basic tasks active, it could just be that you're trying to run games that require more RAM than you currently have. Try lowering your game settings to see if that helps with performance!

So, it looks like you've got 16 GB of RAM, which is decent, but Windows 11 can be memory-intensive. Check the task manager and verify how much RAM is in use. Also, sometimes frame drops can arise from the GPU or CPU being bottlenecked, depending on their specs. Make sure your monitor cables are connected to your GPU too; that can sometimes go overlooked!

Thanks for the tips! I have already noted my specs in the post; I’ll double-check the task manager now.
