I took some time to really understand concepts, especially after starting small side projects just for fun. Collaborating with classmates made a big difference, too. Sometimes, their way of explaining things just makes sense in ways textbooks can’t. Moving at your own pace is key.
It really clicked for me three years after graduation! I realized I enjoy automating tasks and creating tools, but before that, I was just learning for the potential money. My advice? Find what you love in IT, and think about real problems you want to solve to imagine the success you'll have with it. Just remember, you're still in your first year and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed by all this new information!
Keep pushing through! It starts to click once you get a bit better at it. Make sure to attend office hours with your professors; they can really help. Don’t hesitate to struggle through problems and ask questions—there's no such thing as a dumb question. Also, don’t isolate yourself from friends; work together with them. It’s tough now, but once it clicks, it gets fun!
