Why is my download speed so slow even with a fast connection?

I'm experiencing really slow download speeds—only about 15 Mbps—despite my speed tests showing I have a 900 Mbps connection when I test it. I'm using an Ethernet connection, and I've checked that my drivers are up to date and the cable seems fine. I also noticed that my HDD is running at 100%, but I'm not sure if that impacts my download speed since I'm downloading to a different drive. This problem has only started recently, over the last two weeks, and I'm not sure what triggered it. Any advice would be fantastic!

Hey! Just a thought, but check which server you’re downloading from. If it's congested or under heavy load, that could definitely slow things down. Also, it's crucial to keep your drives clean—if your OS drive is packed, that could hinder performance across the board. Ideally, keep SSDs under 80% and HDDs below 95% to avoid issues!

That's frustrating! However, you need to consider that sometimes ISPs sell you more speed than you can actually handle. Your internal speed might seem great, but if the ISP is throttling your connection or if the neighborhood's network is clogged, you'll see the impact. Other devices doing fine on the same connection suggests your PC could be the bottleneck.

It sounds like the server you're downloading from might be capping your speed. Sometimes, even if your home connection is solid, external factors can limit your actual download rates. I suggest running a speed test on a site like speedtest.net to see if you're getting the speeds you expect. Just keep in mind, if your OS drive is maxed out, that can slow down your system as well, even if that's not where you're saving your downloads.
