Hey everyone! I'm trying to transition back into tech after a break. I used to be a Network Engineer for over ten years, but I switched to SEO content writing during the pandemic. I've recently passed the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam and I'm aiming for the Solutions Architect - Associate certification next, and then the AI Associate. My ultimate goal is to become an AI Engineer. I'm wondering about Terraform — is it relevant for my aspirations, or is it mainly a tool for DevOps roles? Also, do recruiters still value Terraform certifications? I get that certifications are only valuable if backed by practical skills, so I just want to make sure I'm focusing my study time wisely and not getting sidetracked.

Every cloud platform out there is likely using Infrastructure as Code in some capacity. If you're comfortable with Terraform, getting certified could be beneficial. Plus, the training gives you a solid foundation. Just a heads up, though, being an AI engineer also involves a significant amount of math and research!
Certifications do help your profile, but nowadays companies prioritize real skills over titles. So, it’s wise to learn Terraform hands-on first, and once you’re comfortable, go for the certification.
Everyone has good points here. Terraform is one of the easier certifications to obtain, especially if you already grasp the concept of Infrastructure as Code. I’m actually starting the cloud resume challenge soon, which involves using tools like Terraform. I feel it's more geared towards DevOps, but I'm glad to get these insights!
Check out job listings in your area. It really helps to compare your resume with what employers are looking for. You can also browse LinkedIn profiles of people who are doing the work you aim to do. If a cert is important for a role, companies usually mention it in their ads.
If your goal is to be an AI engineer, focus on system architecture and integration concepts. Terraform might give you some exposure to infrastructure as code, which is valuable, but mastering the syntax isn't going to be your top priority.
