Help! My Mechanical Keyboard Seems Infected and Typing Randomly

I recently tried to reinstall a video editing tool I had purchased before. I think I may have accidentally downloaded a keylogger instead. For a couple of weeks, everything seemed fine, but then I noticed unusual behavior last night while watching YouTube. When I pressed the right arrow key to skip an ad, the closed captions appeared instead, and the screen kept switching between fullscreen and theatre mode. To make matters worse, it began typing one of my passwords along with my email address in the search bar, which really freaked me out. I quickly disconnected my Internet, but the strange typing didn't stop. I ran a Malwarebytes scan but didn't find anything. After doing a clean install of my system, the issue persisted, so I disconnected my keyboard, which stopped the typing. I've switched to an older keyboard that works fine, but I'd really like to get my original keyboard back to normal. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Did you perhaps accidentally create a macro in your keyboard software? Sometimes malware can mess with those settings. You might want to check your keyboard configuration software to see if there's anything odd going on.

Haha, it’s possible! I heard of a YouTuber who claims his content should always be viewed full-screen! Definitely makes me think.

There's a chance that your drivers may be compromised rather than the keyboard. It's worth checking the installed drivers on your PC and maybe even reinstalling them to see if the problem resolves. If you need a guide on cleaning up your system, Major Geeks has some great resources. Just make sure you're thorough!

Thanks for the tip! I never thought about checking the drivers. I'll look into that.

This can be a bit tricky, but it sounds like your keyboard may have been compromised or is malfunctioning. The fact that strange inputs occurred even when offline suggests it could be an issue with the keyboard itself. It might not be external hacking. Try testing your keyboard on another computer. If the weirdness persists across devices, then it’s likely time to invest in a new one. Trust me, it’s probably the simplest way to solve this!

Yeah, I think I'm resigned to getting a new keyboard now. Just really loved that one! Thanks for the advice!
