I recently got a headset with a built-in mic. The headphone part works great, but my PC just won't recognize the mic at all. I've checked the system sound settings, and there's no option to switch to a different input or output device. There isn't any mute button on the headset, so I'm certain it's not just muted. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on?

How does your headset connect to your PC? Is it a single jack or two separate jacks? Also, does it connect via USB? Understanding how it hooks up can help troubleshoot issues.
Most PCs use a TRS audio jack (which is 3 rings), while your headset probably has a TRRS jack (which is 4 rings). This could be the reason your PC isn't recognizing the mic.
