I'm thinking about installing Linux on my ThinkPad T480. It's equipped with an Intel i5 processor, integrated graphics, and I recently upgraded the RAM from 8GB to 16GB. The laptop has a 256GB storage capacity, and while I've replaced the external battery, the internal battery is getting a bit old. I've had some Linux experience with Raspberry Pi projects and a few containers, but I would love recommendations on which Linux distribution to try.

Absolutely! The T480 has excellent Linux support and performs well. I suggest starting with something stable like Debian or OpenSuse Leap; they’re great for beginners and pretty reliable.

If you're into gaming, I recommend checking out Manjaro. It has up-to-date packages and good security. It supports GNOME, which you like, so it might be a good fit for you!

Yeah, definitely install Linux! And about compatibility, you can use Wine for your older games. Just make sure to check software support for what you want to play.

Just go for it! The laptop will handle it well, and as for distros, Mint and Fedora are both great options. Start with Mint and explore the others later to see what fits your style.

You should definitely try Linux Mint! It's user-friendly and has a lovely interface. You can check it out at the official Mint site. Plus, many people love it for its simplicity.
