Is the Ryzen 5700X3D Still a Good Buy at $280?

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU to an AM4 X3D chip, specifically the 5700X3D, and I want to know if it's still worth $280. Right now, I'm using an R5 3600 and mainly play Apex Legends, averaging around 150 FPS on my 240Hz monitor. I'm not ready to switch to AM5 yet because of the high RAM prices and such. What do you all think?

Absolutely, I think $280 is a solid deal for the 5700X3D, especially if you're sticking with AM4 for now. The price might only go up if RAM prices keep rising, so it's a good time to snag it.

Don't forget to consider your other specs, too. What's your GPU and the resolution you’re gaming at? That might change how much you benefit from a new CPU.

Man, prices are wild right now! Just two years ago, these components were way cheaper. I saw bundles for the 5700X3D with RAM and a motherboard going for around $180 a year ago.

It really depends on how far you are from a Micro Center. They have AM5 combos around $350, which might be a better investment in the long run since you can pick your CPU, RAM, and motherboard. But if you're an hour away, that complicates things a bit!

I’m about an hour away too! But is the 7500X3D significantly faster than the 5700X3D?

For $280, that's definitely a decent price! The 5800X3D benchmarks pretty closely to the 7700X, but without needing a new motherboard or RAM, it's a better value right now.
