Why Does My PC Freeze When Animating in Blender?

I'm experiencing a strange issue while animating in Blender: my entire PC freezes up, but I can still move my mouse around. I can't minimize windows or tell if I've closed anything, but I can use keybindings to save my work. The screen just remains frozen on whatever I was working on at the moment. To regain control, I end up having to force shutdown my PC each time. I've tried a bunch of solutions without any luck, including refreshing my GPU driver, updating and rolling back drivers, and even moving Blender to a different drive. I can run games like Cyberpunk on medium settings without any issues, so I'm not sure what's going wrong. Has anyone else faced this problem?

By the way, what kind of projects are you working on in Blender? Sometimes specific effects or high-poly models can really push your system.

Are you asking seriously here? Sounds like the problem's way deeper!

I've seen this issue pop up with several other users too, and honestly, it's a bit of a mystery. Many believe that a Windows update messed something up, especially if you're on Windows 11. It seems particularly problematic for laptops that switch between integrated and discrete GPUs. It's like the system's confused about which GPU to use while running Blender, leading to these freezes.

Can you point me to where those users are discussing this? I've been searching for similar issues but haven't found anyone with an exact match.

Yeah, I've heard it's mostly happening on Windows 11 machines. The way the OS messes with GPU settings could be causing Blender to crash.
