Is 27″ or 24″ 1440p Better for Eye Comfort as an Automation Engineer?

I'm an automation engineer working from home and currently have three 24" 1080p monitors. As my eyesight isn't what it used to be, I'm considering an upgrade to either 1440p 24" or 27" monitors. Text size is crucial for me as I work with applications like Outlook, VSCode, and Chrome. I've heard mixed opinions—some say 27" is great while others rave about the DPI on a 24". I need to use scaling on both due to text readability. I'm mainly focused on improving my eye health with this upgrade, given my current ergonomic issues. Any insights on personal experiences or preferences between these two sizes would be greatly appreciated!

I've moved from 24" to 27" and haven't looked back! The difference in clarity at 1440p is night and day. Just be mindful about your seating position, as it might take some adjusting since the 27" pulls things further away from the center.

I've also switched to a 27" 4K and scaled it down to 1440p. I find the smoothness of the text really enhances long reading sessions for work tasks. If you're pushing a lot of windows around, it makes a huge difference without the strain.

I hear you on the scaling—it's definitely the way to go if you want clarity without feeling cramped.

If you're not gaming, go for the 27" 1440p. It's wider and gives you more room for multitasking without squinting at small texts. I've found the increase in comfort worth it, and you can adjust your settings to mitigate scaling issues.

Exactly! A larger display can really help with productivity when you have multiple applications open.

I really think a 27" 1440p is perfect, especially since you're focused on work. Just make sure to go for an IPS panel rather than TN for better color and viewing angles. I’ve used both and found 27" to be much more comfortable for long hours.

Totally agree! The 27" gives you more screen real estate without losing clarity.

For eye comfort, definitely follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break to look at something 20 feet away. This can really help reduce eye strain, especially when working at a screen for long periods.

I do this too! It also helps to look at something natural like outdoors to take a break from the harsh lighting.
