Why Is My SATA SSD Not Recognized During Windows Installation?

I'm a builder from Japan, and this is my first time swapping a motherboard. I replaced my ASUS PRIME B560M-K and i3-10105F setup with an MSI PRO H610M-E DDR4 and i5-14400F. Everything else remained the same: Radeon 6600, DDR4 32GB, a 650W PSU, KIOXIA EXCERIA 500GB M.2, and a Samsung SATA3 240GB SSD. This SATA SSD used to be my old C: drive, which I wiped completely on another laptop. Now, when I try to install Windows 11, the BIOS recognizes the SSD just fine, but it doesn't show up in the Windows installer or when I use diskpart. I've checked all the usual settings – UEFI mode and AHCI are both enabled, and I've even reset the BIOS to defaults. I removed the M.2 SSD to see if there was a lane sharing issue. Strangely, the SSD works perfectly when connected via a USB-SATA adapter or on my old motherboard. I'm wondering if this is a common issue with the H610M-E's SATA ports, if there's a BIOS bug, or if I should just install Windows on the M.2 or consider getting a new motherboard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated; I've been at this for nearly 20 hours!

Have you checked if Secure Boot is toggled off in your BIOS? I had a similar issue not long ago, and it ended up being that simple. Give it a try and see if it helps! Just disable Secure Boot and see if your SSD shows up during installation. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for the tip! I toggled Secure Boot, and at least now Disk 0 shows up in diskpart, but it still shows 0 bytes. I'm going to try booting the installer with it disabled now!
