Can I safely charge my laptop after a drop?

I accidentally dropped my Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 from about 6 feet. It still functions and only seems to have superficial damage, but I'm concerned about the battery. Is it safe to plug it in and charge it without risking a combustion due to possible internal damage? I can share pictures for better assessment if needed.

Yikes, that's rough! If the drop caused any physical damage to the battery, look out for red flags like a bulging case, a chemical smell, unusual heat, or any hissing sounds. If everything looks normal and the laptop powers on fine, the damage might just be external. Still, I recommend not leaving it plugged in unattended when you first charge it. Make sure to check for any gaps or dents near the battery area, and sharing some pics would help others advise you further. Better to be cautious with lithium batteries!

Hey, just a quick note—try to give more context in your title next time! It'll help others understand your issue better right from the start. Good luck with your laptop!

I’d definitely turn it off and unplug it just to be safe. Better to be cautious than risk further damage or a fire hazard. It's a risky situation!
