Why are my USB ports showing N/A in BIOS but still working with other devices?

I plugged a USB microphone into my Asus ROG Zephyrus G15, which works perfectly on my work laptop, but it's not being recognized here. Interestingly, the USB ports are functional for my mouse and other devices. However, when I check the BIOS utility, it lists the USB ports as Port: N/A. I'm confused about what that means for the USB ports and whether it relates to why my mic isn't working. I'm running fully updated Windows 11. I'm assuming this could be a software issue, but I'm open to the possibility that it's hardware-related. Any insights would be appreciated! If needed, I can share a photo of the BIOS screen too.

The N/A status generally indicates there’s no bootable device connected to that port. It’s possible your microphone requires more power than the port on your laptop can provide. On your work laptop, you might have plugged it into a port that supplies higher power, which is why it works there. Does your mic have an option for an external power adapter? That could help bypass the power limitations of your laptop's USB ports.

Sounds like the EZ mode of your BIOS isn't giving much detail. If your mic doesn't have an external power option, you could try using a USB-C to USB adapter to see if it makes a difference. Sometimes those ports can supply more power, but it's hit or miss. Just be cautious of plugging it into the ports near the fans—could lead to overheating!
