Is My CPU Overheating?

I built a PC about three years ago with an Intel Core i7 14700KF. I've heard that this generation can face power issues, which I thought I resolved by undervolting. However, after browsing and gaming for around two hours, I noticed that the 'VR Limit' temperature exceeded 100°C, even though I'm using water cooling. Is this a common issue, and what can I do to cool my computer down?

That temperature reading is for the motherboard's voltage regulators, not directly for the CPU. It probably indicates that your motherboard's cooling isn't sufficient or your case fans aren't pushing enough air across those components. Make sure your case has good airflow!

First off, double-check that your BIOS is updated. If you're running a subpar cooler, especially with the i7 14700K, you could be risking overheating. It might be beneficial to upgrade your CPU cooler if you're not using one rated for at least 250 watts.

The VR Limit refers to the maximum temperature that your voltage regulators can handle before they start to throttle performance. It's important to note that it's more of a cap than a reading of any actual component's temperature. Your CPU temperatures seem reasonable, but that VR limit is a bit concerning for long-term use.

Also, keep an eye on your CPU cooler and case cooling setup. They can significantly influence temperature. A poorly designed case with inadequate fan speeds can exacerbate overheating issues.
