I manage a fleet of iPhones through our mobile device management system, but our phones often get swapped between different teams and users. I'm looking for effective ways to tag these phones so we can easily identify which one belongs to whom. Engraving the serial numbers or IMEI seems like a solid option, but I'm curious to hear what others recommend for keeping track of these devices.

We have an MDM setup that lets us change the lock screen image to include an identifier, which is super handy. That way, even if the phones get swapped, you can still see who they belong to at a glance!
Using a label maker is a really straightforward solution. You can put the label under the phone case, so it’s out of sight, and it won't interfere with the screen or any sensors. It's a cheap and simple way to keep track of them!
If you’re thinking long-term, investing in a laser engraver could really pay off. But for now, labels work too. I usually put one on the device and another visible from the outside, just in case.
Honestly, a basic label is way cheaper than etching. Just make sure you get a good one that sticks well, so it doesn’t come off easily. I’ve had mine on for a while without any issues!
