Is 16GB RAM Sufficient for Gaming with a 16GB VRAM GPU?

I'm building a gaming rig and planning to use 16GB of RAM paired with a 16GB VRAM graphics card. Given the current high prices for RAM, I'm opting for two 8GB sticks of Kingston DDR5 5200MHz instead of going for 32GB right now. I'm wondering if 16GB RAM is enough for gaming and how I can reduce RAM usage in games. For instance, will playing at a higher resolution use up more RAM? If I'm reaching close to 16GB usage in games, can I lower the game settings or limit the frame rate to save RAM? Also, would adding another 8GB stick of the same type to reach 32GB affect performance?

Most games will run just fine with 16GB of RAM. When you're ready to upgrade, consider selling your current sticks and getting two 16GB sticks for better performance.

If I have issues with 16GB, what can I do to improve performance? Should I just lower the resolution or graphics settings?
