Hey everyone, I'm trying to make a decision between the Ryzen 7 5700X and the Ryzen 5 5500X3D to pair with an ASUS RTX 5060 8GB. My focus is on playing games at Full HD (1080p) on Ultra settings. I'm looking to choose the CPU that would optimize performance without bottlenecking my GPU. Any insights on which one would be a better fit for gaming? Thanks!

As someone who owns a 5500X3D, I can confidently say it's the better choice for gaming. I used to have the 5600X, and the performance bump is noticeable!

If gaming is your main priority, definitely go for the 5500X3D! It outperforms the 5700X in that department without a doubt. You'll notice better frame rates and smoother gameplay, especially at 1080p on Ultra settings.

For CPU-limited games, the 5500X3D is about 10-15% faster. If you're mostly gaming and not doing heavy multitasking, this CPU is your best bet.

I checked out the 5500X3D review by Hardware Unboxed, and they recorded an average of 161 fps with an RTX 5090 at Medium settings. The 5700X wasn't tested directly, but estimates suggest it would fall around 142 fps based on comparisons with the 5600X and 5800X. So it looks like 5500X3D offers a noticeable performance boost of about 13% in gaming, while the 5700X might be better for productivity tasks.

I'd lean towards the 5500X3D as well. It has fewer cores, but the larger cache makes a significant difference in gaming performance at 1080p. Unless you're into streaming or heavy multitasking, the 5500X3D is a smarter choice for gaming.
