I'm setting up my first gaming rig and I've found a used build with a 3080, 5600x, and 32GB DDR4 for about 1.4k CAD. Is this still a good option for gaming at 1440p? I mainly play games like Fortnite, Warzone, and some car simulation games like Forza and ATS, along with a few demanding story games here and there, though I don't play those too often.

1.4k CAD sounds a bit steep, but it really depends on where you are. I pieced together a similar setup (3080, 5500, 32GB DDR4) for around 800 USD after spending some time hunting for deals. For 1440p gaming, the 3080 should do well—expect to run on medium to high settings, and some ultra settings with DLSS should be doable too. Just be sure to consider individual parts as well; sometimes you can snag better deals on new components depending on the market.

I was actually wondering if it's worth investing a bit more for a better component or if the 3080 with the 5600x would suffice.
