I'm currently using Site24x7 for monitoring, but I'm on the lookout for a simpler alternative that can be installed on-premises. Open-source options are welcome, but the key thing is that it should be easy to set up and use. I have about 10 Linux servers I need to monitor for standard metrics like CPU, memory, and disk usage, along with a few network switches. Additionally, I need the ability to create custom monitors to check an endpoint via API, track those metrics over time, and ideally process syslogs as well. I've checked out CheckMK, but its interface feels cluttered. What's out there that would allow me to just log in, add hosts, and get started without a complex setup?

CheckMK is a solid option! It's free, open-source, and you should be able to get basic checks up and running within a couple of hours.
I’ve had good experiences with Lansweeper in the past—it was one of the easiest options for me, but do check if it covers everything you need. I'm also currently working with PRTG, and it's been a breeze to deploy with its auto-discovery feature doing most of the heavy lifting quickly.
I find CheckMK to be the best choice out there. It's user-friendly and can handle what you're looking for! 👍
If ease of setup is your priority, consider PRTG. Yes, I know they moved away from perpetual licenses, but it's super easy to manage and set up. Perfect for your needs!
Check out Librenms. It's easy to set up and offers basic monitoring and graphing functionalities, which should align well with what you need.

It's great to hear about the auto-discovery feature! That can save a lot of time when getting started.
