Should I Upgrade My CPU or GPU First?

I'm looking to improve my gaming setup for $400-$500. Should I invest in an Intel i5-14600KF along with a new motherboard and cooler for around $500, or would it be better to go for an upgrade to an RTX 4060 or 5060 within the same price range? Any advice on what would give the best performance boost?

Since both your CPU and GPU are quite outdated, upgrading just one will probably hold back the other. You should consider getting a new motherboard with a 12th gen Intel chip or an AMD equivalent alongside a new GPU to avoid any bottlenecks.

I think my motherboard is a B250M, so that might work for a newer CPU.

Going for the RTX 4060 or 5060 will make a massive difference from your current 1060. Just make sure your power supply can handle it, as those cards need a good amount of wattage to run smoothly! What PSU are you using?

I have an Odin LL 0600, which I got for around $60.

I recently upgraded my system to a used Ryzen 7 5700X with a cooler and motherboard for about $270, plus a secondhand 6700 XT for $230. Check out some hardware swap sites for good deals!

That sounds like a solid upgrade path! I think tweaking all three components will give you the best performance overall.
