Is It Worth Upgrading My Current Setup or Just Waiting for a New Build?

Hey everyone! I've been using my current PC build since 2018, which includes an Intel i5-7600K, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a Z270F STRIX motherboard, and a GeForce GTX 1080. I switched to a 2K monitor last year and have been enjoying decent FPS on older games. However, with new titles like GTA 6 on the horizon, I'm starting to think about a full system upgrade. But before I dive into that, do you think it would make sense to do a minor upgrade now to boost performance and extend the life of my setup for another year or two? I'm mainly interested in upgrading the CPU, with a budget of around 200-250 euros. Any suggestions? Or would you recommend waiting for a completely new build instead?

Definitely look into upgrading your CPU, but be aware that you might also need a new motherboard and possibly RAM if you want to transition to DDR5. It’s tough to keep it under 250 euros with the costs involved.

The LGA1151 socket is outdated, so it might be hard to find compatible Intel CPUs. You could search for used options to get the best deal. In my area, some upgrades are around 110 euros. You'll want to check Intel’s site for the best models for your socket. For RAM, try to match the speed and latency with what you already have. You might be able to find used RAM for under 40 euros. You could keep the GTX 1080 since it's still a decent card, but if you consider a used 3060, that could be a more powerful upgrade, though it might go over your budget.

Thanks for the Intel tip! I'll definitely check out the used market!
