Why Does My Tablet’s Display Outshine My TV?

I recently got a Samsung Tab S7 FE and have been using it alongside my newer ONN Roku TV. Surprisingly, I find the tablet's display to be much better than the TV's. The TV appears excessively bright and somewhat washed out in comparison. I can't attach pictures, but I have screenshots of the same YouTube video playing on both devices. I've played around with the TV's picture settings, but I'm really curious about why my tablet looks so much better.

Samsung's lower-end products like the FE series are still generally better than many budget options from Roku. It’s not surprising that the tablet looks superior.

It could be that your ONN TV, being about $80, compromises on display quality. I know finding cheaper yet decent TVs can be tough; it’s usually easier to make a smaller screen look good.

It's crucial to check the bit rate of what you're streaming to your TV. It might be streaming at a lower quality. Calibrating the TV settings could really help, too!

Your tablet is closer to your eyes and has a smaller screen showing a smaller image, which can make it look sharper at the same resolution as your TV. If you scaled down the image on your TV, it might look just as good—though there would still be some differences due to the display technology.

Age doesn't determine display quality; specs do! If you think the Tab S7 FE looks good, you’d be amazed by high-end tablets like the M5 iPad Pro with its incredible OLED display.
