I'm trying to set up pod identity in EKS Auto Mode but I'm hitting a wall. I followed the sample from the GitHub repo for pod identity, but I'm still getting an access denied error when trying to query for credentials. The documentation mentions that EKS Auto Mode has the identity agent running without needing to install anything extra, which I've tried both ways. Everything seems correctly configured—the env variables are set in the pod spec, but I'm getting a client fault saying access is denied. Has anyone successfully made it work?

Just a side note—EKS Auto Mode is a mixed bag. Some say it’s overrated since it just saves a few clicks and comes with some add-ons pre-installed. It might not be the perfect solution for everyone.
I've had success with pod identity in EKS Auto Mode. If you want, I can share my setup example when I'm back on my laptop. Just a heads up though, make sure you're not using managed nodes if you're going pure EKS Auto mode.
