Is My 5-Year-Old PC Still Good for Gaming in 2025?

I've been out of the PC gaming loop for a while since my PC is about five years old now. I'm looking to dive back into gaming and I'm wondering if my current build is still up to snuff for new games in 2025. My specs are an i9 10850k CPU, a Gigabyte z590 motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 3600MHz RAM, and a Gigabyte RTX 3070 8GB OC graphics card. Can this handle the latest games?

Honestly, a good rule of thumb is this: if your favorite games aren't running well, it's time to think about an upgrade. Otherwise, if you're still able to play your games, you're probably fine for now!

The CPU is still strong, the RAM is solid, but you might want to think about upgrading that GPU eventually. I upgraded from a GeForce RTX 3080 to a 4080 Super for better performance, but I still have a Core i7-10700K, which runs everything smoothly!

Your rig should handle 1080p and even 1440p gaming just fine! I used to run an i5-6600k with a RTX 2080, and the only game I had issues with was Starfield. I upgraded the CPU but kept the GPU, and now everything runs smoothly on high settings. Just make sure your monitor can keep up too!

If you can't run a game at all, even on low settings, then definitely consider an update. But if it's playable, keep holding on to your setup!

Thanks, this makes sense.
