I'm new to building PCs and I've put together a list of parts for a build, but I'm looking for some guidance. Here's what I have so far:
- CPU: 9800x3d
- Cooler: Phantom Spirit SE 120
- Motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming B850 Plus WiFi
- RAM: Vengeance 32 DDR5 CL30 (might switch to a cheaper option if I find one)
- SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVMe
- GPU: RTX 5070 Asus Dual OC
- Case: Fractal Design Meshify 3
- PSU: Corsair RM850e (2025) 850W
This setup is just over £2000, which is my budget. I'm aiming for a high-performance gaming experience at 1080p with max settings and ray tracing, plus a potential upgrade to higher resolution down the line. I currently have a 1080 monitor but I plan on switching to 1440 or better later.
I'm concerned about the Meshify case being too small for larger GPUs in the future. Is that something I should worry about? Also, the case comes with front intake fans but no exhaust fan – is that a problem? Should I buy an extra exhaust fan, and if so, what would you recommend? Are all these parts compatible, or is there anything else I should consider? Thanks!

Try going for the 9070 XT instead of the RTX 5070, it's definitely more powerful for gaming and should fit your needs better.
I'd skip the RTX 5070 unless you're doing a lot of video editing or heavy productivity work. Check out the RX 9070 or 9070 XT instead. They outperform the 5070 in almost everything except ray tracing, and they're usually cheaper too. Plus, they have more VRAM!
I get that you want NVIDIA for ray tracing, but the AMD cards are catching up! They provide great value and performance, especially for the price. As for your other parts, I think you’re good but might want to look at cooling options.
If this is primarily a gaming rig, consider swapping the GPU to the 9070 16GB rather than the 5070 12GB. If you can get the 9070 XT 16GB, even better—it’ll give you higher FPS!
Great point! I'm thinking I should just stick with whatever comes pre-fitted for fans. Most cases don't have the rear exhaust fans, right? Are they necessary?

I'm leaning toward the 9070 XT since it's similar in price. By the way, if I get a case that includes fans, do I need to add an exhaust fan? Most cases don’t come with one.
