I'm trying to set up an HDMI hub near my monitors and connect it to my laptop, which is on a shelf below. I bought an HDMI splitter hoping it would help extend my displays, but it just mirrors them instead. Is there a way to configure it so that each display shows different content?

Have you considered using a KVM switch? It could be a solution to manage multiple displays and switch between them easily.
Short answer: it's not possible with a splitter. If you have a dock that connects via USB-C or Thunderbolt, you could use that for multiple outputs. Otherwise, you might want to look into options that allow each display to be independently controlled.
If your goal is to have multiple screens showing different content, an HDMI splitter won't work because it mirrors the output by design. You need to connect to each display using separate outputs from your laptop. If you're using a newer laptop, consider a USB-C hub with multiple display outputs if it supports that. Otherwise, check if your laptop has several HDMI or DisplayPort outputs to connect directly to the monitors.

Thanks for the info! I'll check if my laptop has those ports.
