I'm having serious performance issues with my Windows laptop—it started about two days ago. Everything is running really slowly, and gaming is practically impossible with frame rates dropping to 0-2 fps. It seems like the problem affects the whole laptop, not just certain applications. I've already run Windows Defender and didn't find any malware, and I haven't downloaded anything suspicious recently. Task manager shows everything in the normal range for CPU and RAM usage, so I'm not sure what to look for. I've tried restarting my laptop multiple times with no improvement. What scans or checks should I run to figure out what's going on?

Did you recently install a NVIDIA update? There have been reports of performance drops after updating GPU drivers for some users, so that might be something to consider.
This might be a long shot, but try using the command prompt as admin to run DISM and SFC in that order for repairs. After that, reboot your laptop and see if it helps.
Could you share more details about your laptop's specs? Sometimes knowing the model and hardware can help in diagnosing the issue better.
Check your CPU speed in the task manager under performance; if it's stuck around 0.55GHz, that could hint at a power supply issue. Alternatively, make sure you're not using a mobile charger in the USB-C port instead of your laptop’s original charger. That sometimes causes problems!

I checked and it's running stable at 2 GHz, so I guess that rules that out.
