Looking to Upgrade My AM4 PC for 1440p Gaming – Need Advice!

I'm seeking some guidance on upgrading my AM4 setup, which I built back in 2020. Here's my current configuration: AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Gigabyte RX 5700 XT GAMING OC 8G, ASUS TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS (WI-FI), Corsair TX650, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. I want to play recent titles at 1440p, ideally on high settings, and I'm aiming to future-proof my rig for at least the next four years. My budget is somewhat flexible; I'm considering a 9070 XT but would prefer not to switch to AM5 due to the cost of DDR5 and a new motherboard right now. I'm specifically looking for advice on the following: 1) Are there any CPU upgrades I should consider to avoid bottlenecking? 2) Do I need to upgrade my PSU, and how can I determine the appropriate wattage? 3) Is waiting for AM5 worth it considering the current pricing and supply issues? I'm based in Europe, so any pricing considerations would be appreciated. Thanks!

The RX 9070XT is a fantastic option, but you will need to upgrade your PSU to at least 850W. Keep an eye out for the re-release of the 5800X3D – it should be worth the wait!

I upgraded my setup with a 5800X3D and a 9070XT, and it's been running incredibly well for me. I even turned my old AM4 parts into a server after the upgrade! If you can get your hands on the X3D variant, it's definitely worth it for future-proofing.

You might want to grab a new GPU and PSU for the moment, and waiting for the 5800X3D to be restocked could be a smart move. You can still make good use of your Ryzen 5 3600 at 1440p by overclocking it a bit. If you go for the 9070XT, an 850W PSU is recommended for optimal performance.

The 5800X3D is still a solid choice and will definitely hold you over until AM6 arrives. It's powerful enough for your needs, and a great investment for the coming years!

If you’re looking for something more affordable, the Ryzen 5700X is a good budget-friendly upgrade. The X3D models are amazing but trendy prices are a bit high right now. Price drops on RAM could also happen soon, so keep that in mind.
