What should I do about an accidental charge after a free trial?

I accidentally let my free trial for a VPN subscription expire and didn't cancel in time, so now I'm facing a hefty charge of $150 for a yearly plan. I thought that if I didn't pay, it would just go away, like with other subscriptions, but that hasn't happened even after a month. Now, I can't download or update any apps on my Apple account. I've tried contacting the app support and reported the issue multiple times, but nothing has changed. Should I just ignore the payment or pay it and then dispute it with my bank? I'm really confused about how to handle this situation.

If you want to keep using your Apple account, you'll need to pay it. After that, you can request a refund and hope they let you have it back.

I get where you're coming from, but just so you know, most free trials are pretty clear about the fact that you need to cancel before the trial ends to avoid getting charged. It sucks, but that’s just how they operate. You might not get a grace period like you assumed.

Look, here's the tough truth: by using your Apple ID, you agreed to pay for subscriptions, and Apple has already paid the app developer on your behalf. Yes, it's frustrating to have to shell out $150 now, but if you dispute the charge, your Apple ID could get banned from making any further purchases. So, it might be best to pay it first before thinking about a chargeback.
