Best Ways to Sell Old Cisco Equipment?

Asked By TechNinja42 On

I'm looking to sell some of our old Cisco gear, which is still functional but not used anymore. I've never sold equipment before, as previous gear was usually outdated and not worth much. I've found a few places, like P3 Systems, but I'm not sure where else to look. Has anyone had experience selling similar equipment? Any recommendations for reliable buyers or alternatives to selling?

Check out Spectra.com; we use them for our SAN maintenance and they work well for keeping older gear in extended use.

If you don't have contacts, try reaching out to your preferred VAR for their IT asset disposal supplier. They can provide you with a pickup and buyback quote. Just have everything documented and ready to hand over in an Excel sheet.

For us, recycling is the way to go. But if I see something worthwhile, I put it up on Facebook. It’s rarely worth the trouble otherwise.

Why not consider donating them to a local school? I used to attend a vocational high school with a networking program that would have loved this kind of gear.

I like that idea! I’ll definitely check with some local schools. They might take a few items even if they can’t handle a lot.

In my experience, it's often not worth the hassle of selling old gear. You might face lowball offers locally, and selling on eBay can drag on, especially if there are buyer complications. If it's already past its prime and you didn't set aside recovery costs in your original budget, I’d suggest recycling or donating instead. Just a thought!

I see where you're coming from, but I've been offered decent amounts for some of my gear, like $100 to $300 per piece. Just want to avoid a headache with payment later.

We usually buy all our refurbished Cisco gear from optimumdata.com, so they're worth checking out as well.

Procurri and Relutech might be interested in your equipment. They're reputable for harvesting old inventory.
