Why Does My Laptop Randomly Shut Off During Restart?

I was using my laptop last night when the power cut out unexpectedly. While waiting for it to come back on, I mistakenly clicked 'restart' instead of 'shut down'. However, during the restart, my laptop turned off again unexpectedly. I'm concerned this might be due to my failing battery, as I keep it plugged in nearly all the time. Can anyone help me understand if this situation could harm my laptop? I haven't turned it on since last night.

It's definitely not great for your laptop. Abrupt shutdowns can lead to software corruption or data loss. It’s crucial to figure out what's causing it, and once you do, you should run some repairs on your system. Make sure to back up any important data while your laptop is still operational.

When it shut off, was it plugged into a wall outlet or just on battery? Also, have you noticed if it shuts down differently when running on just battery versus plugged in?

I turned on my laptop just now, and it started with a troubleshooting repair, and it seems to be okay now. What else can I do to ensure it stays fine?

Did your laptop shut off before or after the Windows logo appeared during the restart? That could help narrow down the issue.
