Hey everyone! I'm in the process of upgrading my PC and need some advice on choosing the best CPU. I just bought a B650E motherboard to support AM5, but I still need a CPU and RAM. For RAM, I'm looking to buy a used 2x16GB kit with a warranty, priced around $360-$390. For the CPU, I have a few options: the new 7500X3D for $260, a used 7800X3D for $325, or I could go for something cheaper like the used 7600 for $160, the new 7600X for $200, or the new 9500F for $235. I mostly play FPS games competitively like Overwatch, CS2, Valorant, and R6, and I occasionally play single-player games like Assassin's Creed and Horizon Zero Dawn at 1440p. I also host a Minecraft server for my friends, and we might switch to a modded server soon. I think I'll need 32GB of RAM for the server, but let me know if that's overkill. I'm just not sure which CPU would be the best choice here. Thanks a lot for your help!

What’s your current setup? Knowing your GPU can really help identify the best CPU for you. If you’ve got a mid-range GPU like I think, I’d be leaning toward the X3D CPUs for high-refresh-rate gaming. Just make sure to compare the performance of the 7600 versus X3D options in the games you play.
Do you have a Microcenter nearby? They often have great deals in-store.
Sadly, I'm in the EU, and I mentioned that I checked prices accordingly. Kind of wish there was a local equivalent!
If your budget allows it, definitely go for one of the X3D CPUs. They really shine with RAM management, which might help you keep costs down later since you could potentially get away with 16GB instead of 32GB. That said, if your heart is set on something cheaper, Intel's Core Ultra processors are also worth a look if they're available in your area.
Funny enough, I didn’t think of the Intel CPUs either! They don’t seem to get much hype but they do offer solid performance. Just be aware of the local pricing since it can really ramp up.
You could snag a new 7800X3D at Walmart for a good price, but I know that's not an option for you. I’d still recommend getting an X3D chip for better performance down the line. It helps access memory more efficiently, which can really improve FPS in competitive gaming without needing excessive RAM.
Thanks for the suggestion! I appreciate the advice, considering the RAM situation makes an X3D more appealing. I just need to make sure I can find one at a reasonable price here.

I used to have a 5700X3D but sold it since the prices were wild. I’m running a 3070Ti and I’ve got a 360Hz monitor—definitely want something that can keep up!
