How Can I Reinstall My Laptop’s Built-in Webcam for an Interview?

Hey everyone! I'm having trouble getting my built-in webcam to work on my laptop, and I really need it for a job interview this week. I've done some digging and here's what I've tried so far: I discovered that the camera was hidden in Device Manager, and after checking for updates, everything was up to date. I also uninstalled the camera, hoping it would reinstall automatically upon restarting, but that didn't happen. I'm not very tech-savvy, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

If you can’t find the webcam after un-hiding it, it might have suffered a hardware failure. At this point, your best bet could be to grab an inexpensive USB webcam as a backup—it’s reliable and should definitely work for your interview.

Have you checked under Device Manager to manually scan for new hardware? That’s what the system does on reboot, and it might help identify your webcam again. You might also want to visit your laptop manufacturer's website to find the latest webcam drivers by entering your model number.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve tried scanning for new hardware, but it still isn’t showing up.
