Is Upgrading My RAM Worth It for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I wanted to start by thanking everyone for their help a few weeks ago with my PC build. I've recently upgraded from an i5 7500 CPU to an i5 12400 and switched out my 1060 with a 6700 XT 12GB GPU thanks to a friend who just upgraded. The change is definitely noticeable!

Now, I'm thinking about upgrading my RAM. I currently have 16GB (2x8GB) that runs at 2133MHz, and I'm curious if it's worth it to upgrade to 32GB (2x16GB) at 3200MHz. How much of a difference would it make for gaming?

Before making any decisions, you should check if you're hitting the 16GB limit while gaming. Tools like MSI Afterburner can help you monitor memory usage. If you're comfortably under that threshold, there's no need to rush into an upgrade right now.

Honestly, 16GB is still fine for gaming. Upgrading to 32GB won't significantly boost your FPS, but it can help reduce stuttering and improve multitasking. The jump from 2133MHz to 3200MHz will give you a slight performance upgrade, but it's not strictly necessary unless you're planning to future-proof your setup. It's a nice improvement for smoother performance overall!

Are you actually sure your RAM is running at 2133MT/s? That's pretty slow, and it could definitely be impacting your performance. You can check in CPU-Z to get the exact speed and see if you can overclock it. The difference between 2133 and 3200 can be huge in specific scenarios!

If you notice you're running low on free memory while gaming, then an upgrade might be worth it. However, if you're not experiencing issues, the difference won't be noticeable. Also, you could consider overclocking your existing RAM if possible. I found a decent bump when I upgraded from 16GB at 3200MHz to 32GB at 3600MHz.
