How can I improve my skills without relying too much on AI?

I've only been in the workforce for about 7 months and feel overwhelmed with the dependence on AI tools to get things done quickly. My colleagues seem to be wizards, easily grasping concepts and applying their knowledge, while I feel like I'm just scraping by. I noticed that I've stopped doing basic tasks like checking documentation, memorizing bash commands, or searching for troubleshooting tips online. I usually hand off my log issues to AI because it's faster, but I've realized that I've even adopted this approach for my personal projects and self-learning. I know AI is just a tool, but I feel lost and unsure if this reliance is normal at my experience level. I'm seeking advice on how to effectively use available resources without losing my foundational understanding. Theory is straightforward, but using AI makes me feel like I'm not genuinely learning anything. For context, recently I participated in migrating an app from IIS to containers, and I relied entirely on AI to write the code for the process without diving into the documentation for Traefik or considering the logistics of running it, even though I have a basic understanding of Docker commands that I wasn't fully employing.

Hey, do you think your employer is really pushing you to use AI, or is that just how it's coming across to you? It might be worth assessing whether this pressure is real or self-imposed.
