I'm looking to upgrade my RAM for a new build. I do a lot of filmmaking but also enjoy gaming, and I'm trying to strike the perfect balance to avoid performance drops or stuttering during gameplay. Is 64GB too much for video editing? Is 32GB sufficient for gaming? I have two options: a 64GB kit at 6000 MHz with 36 CL timing and a 32GB kit at 6400 MHz with 32 CL timing. Would the slight difference in speed affect my performance in gaming and editing? The price for both options is about the same. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

For video editing, whether 64GB is too much really comes down to your specific workload. Video editing isn't one-size-fits-all. Check your current RAM usage; that’ll give you a better idea. As for gaming, 32GB is definitely plenty for most scenarios. The speed difference between your two kits is minimal and will have a negligible impact on actual performance for gaming and work.
What CPU are you running with this RAM? It can also affect performance.
I would go with the 64GB kit if the prices are identical. You probably won’t see a noticeable difference in speed, but with double the capacity, you'll have a lot more headroom for multitasking and heavy editing projects.
