Hey, I'm currently using Google Drive for Desktop at my university where we collaborate in shared folders. This setup has resulted in some very long and deeply nested file paths due to an organized filing system we have. Recently, I've encountered a frustrating issue: I can't open, rename, or edit files in these deep folders directly from programs like Word or Adobe. The only way around this has been to move the files to my local desktop for editing and then upload them back, which disrupts my workflow. My IT team attempted to enable the 'Win32 long paths' fix in the Windows Registry, but unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem. They've now run out of solutions to try. Is there any workaround available, or is this just a limitation of Google Drive on Windows we're facing? Just as an FYI, I'm a standard user and I lack admin rights, so any potential system changes would need IT approval.

It sounds like you've got a managed device scenario. In situations like these, it's best to discuss this issue directly with the IT department that manages your device instead of just your local tech support, as they might have additional insights or permissions to help out.

That makes sense! It’s always tricky when you’re dealing with managed devices. Good luck with getting to the right people!
