Troubleshooting My Old Acer Aspire V5 Display Issues

I recently inherited an old Acer Aspire V5 from 2013, and I'm facing some problems. I didn't have the original charger, but I found that a Toshiba charger I had matched the power specifications. To fit it into the laptop, I bought an adapter from AliExpress. While the charger seems to work, the display remains black, and the laptop appears to have a dead battery since it turns off when unplugged. I've already tried replacing the RAM and CMOS battery, using a new charger, and connecting it to an external monitor, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions on what I might try next?

It sounds like a frustrating situation! If the display is black on startup, it might not be a driver issue since you'd typically see at least a low-resolution display. Check if the laptop makes any sounds when booting. If you hear beeps, that could indicate a graphics card failure. It might help to open up the back and inspect the internals; sometimes, reseating components can help. Good luck!

I had a similar issue once! If it makes no noise and just powers down after a few seconds, it could be a hardware fault. Have you tried looking for any swollen capacitors or burnt components? That might give you a clue.
