Can I Boot Windows from My Old NVMe SSD on a New PC?

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of building a new PC and I have a couple of questions about using my old hardware. I currently boot Windows from an NVMe SSD on my existing PC. When I transfer this SSD to my new build, will I be able to boot Windows successfully just by selecting it as the boot drive?

Additionally, I have an HDD where I keep my Steam games and other applications. If I connect that HDD to the new PC, will I still have access to all my games and be able to continue where I left off? Thanks in advance for any help!

You can plug it in and typically it’ll work, but it’s wise to reinstall Windows when you get a new motherboard. As for games on the HDD, you’ll just need to redirect Steam to the games folder for them to show up.

It’s generally okay, but there's no guarantee it will work perfectly since hardware changes can sometimes lead to issues. Just remember that anything on your HDD won’t transfer automatically unless you move it manually.

Yes, it should work just fine! Just remember to add the drive to your Steam library; it should automatically find all the games you have installed on the HDD. You can definitely pick up where you left off!

Absolutely, it should work, but don’t forget to download the new drivers for the motherboard and your peripherals once you set everything up!
